junoMy wife and I enjoyed some adult time last night. First, we went to see Juno last night. Excellent flick, can’t recommend it enough. Great performances from some unlikely sources. The only criticism I have is that they tried to make the soundtrack too-cool.

I also picked up a new euphemism for penis: Pork-Sword

And they say you can’t learn anything from reading this blog.

Then, we were off to Olive Garden, because we don’t get enough faux-italian tasteless plates of food at home. But, the service was ok - we were waited on by little Miss Personality, so that was good. Her bustle hustled, and that’s all you can ask for.

Not my favorite Thanksgiving by a longshot. I even preferred the Thanksgiving where two of my brothers got into a fistfight to this one.

Yes, they were grown. Heaven is reserved for the mothers of four boys.

Dinner was at Gypsy Cab Company in St. Augustine. A restaurant. A freakin’ restaurant!

Ok, you women who are saying to yourselves, “Ha! At least the women in your house didn’t have to cook!” can just shut up. A restaurant on Thanksgiving is sacrilege.

Oh, the folks at Gypsy did fine. The food was good and plentiful, the service was great (and looked fantastic!). But c’mon!

Thanksgiving should be spent at home, not in a room full of strangers with some waitress (no matter how hot!) serving up salads and turkey and 80% of the table ordering off the menu instead of the Turkey Dinner! What the hell is up with that? Seafood and black beans on Thanksgiving?

Bah Humbug!

Stopped off at Firehouse Subs in Fruit Cove on the way home. If you’ve never eaten at Firehouse, you’re missing some good stuff.

The company was founded by firefighters and has franchised in over 270 locations so far. Each restaurant has a firehouse theme, and the kids all get plastic fireman’s helmets with their meal.

But, all you really want to know about is the food, right?

Well, I had the Italian Combo, Medium. My favorite. The dressing used gives it a great taste, and the meat is plentiful. I also substituted a brownie for chips - I was very bad today when it came to my diet! But, those brownies are just the way I like ‘em, big and moist.

The service is usually good and tonight was just fine. Unless the place is packed, the team is good about greeting the customer before they get to the register, and the sandwich-makers are usually starting your sandwich while you’re still ordering from the cashier. You get to sit while your sandwich is toasted, and they bring it out to you.

So, yeah, I’m a fan and tonight was another reason why.
