Mayor Peyton,

A friend of mine who has a chronically ill child (kidney transplant, seizures, diabetic, etc.) just recently rented a home. She called JEA and asked how much of a deposit she needed for the power to be switched into her name. They told her she needed to fax a lease, she did and with the lease she faxed a note stating her little boy was having surgery on the 9th. On Oct the 8th she went into the Dunn Ave Branch and paid cash for her deposit. Starting from Oct the 9th (while her son was in surgery) JEA started making phone calls to her about a bill her landlords owed, they knew about this before they took my friend's cash. On Oct 16 her power was cut off. The people who own the home owed $800 on their power. My friend had to move her chronically ill child from his bed to a strange bed some where else, while recuperating from surgery. On Oct 16th my friend went to the Downtown Branch, a Miss Hicks said my friend could not get her deposit back. Now JEA says my friend even though she gave cash on the same day has to wait 14 days for a check. My friend and her son now have no place to live and have to wait 14 days for a check. This is outrageous.

I think it is time now for some one to stop the monoply JEA has over the city, I am told that is against Federal Law. And I think JEA should have to refund my friend"s money on the spot, they did not wait 14 days for her money.

Mr. Peyton,
I live in The Woods Community at Atlantic and Hodges. I had my son trim trees in preperation for the storm. The limbs are 10 yards long and 3 feet high. Stacked perfectly appropriatly for city disposal. I have been trying for three days to get the city yard waste company to pick the debris up early. All I got was a ridiculos run around. My regular pick up is Thursday. You suspended pick up on that day. I have an inordanant amount of deadly "missles" in my front yard that goes far beyond plastic trash cans and I can't get your office to take me seriously. I have documented all to whom I have spoken and at what time. The last person in your office (Tracey) told me to take the debris to the landfill myself. Right. I'll put it all in the back of my Camry and go to a place they didn't bother to tell me is located. I hope nothing happens to me or my neighbors due to the debris that your city and our tax dollars are responsible for. Don't you send special pick up out for appliances? This could well be a life threatening situation and your city system has failed . Again. I shall take this to the media.
